The Fall-a-thon is a charitable fundraising event benefitting the Korinji Foundation (www.korinji.org), and organized by Aikido students from Shinjinkai (www.shinjinkai.org). Similar to a walk-a-thon, each participant gathers pledges from sponsors; in this case, rather than walking, participants commit to being thrown as many times as possible in 15 minutes. The more falls, the more money is raised for Korinji's Zen monastery construction fund. The 2009 Fall-a-thon was conducted on July 8, 2009 at Shinjinkai headquarters in Chicago. Over 20 participants raised more than $10000 during the two hour event. The participant with the most falls in 15 minutes made it to 431. Many thanks to the exhausted fallers! The next Fall-a-thon will be held June 26, 2010. To learn more and support our cause, see www.fall-a-thon.com.
